Rotary screw air compressors need an oil made for the air-end: it lubricates the rotors and bearings, seals the clearances between the rotors and carries away the heat of compression. Automotive or hydraulic oils are not a substitute.
Rovex Rotojet M 46 and S 46
According to their data sheets, both are mineral-based ISO VG 46 oils for oil-injected rotary screw compressors running 2,000 to 4,000 hours a year in mild to demanding conditions, at ambient temperatures from 0 to 35 °C. They comply with ISO 6743-3 class L-DAH and are supplied in 20 L packs.
| Property (ASTM method) | Typical value |
|---|---|
| Viscosity at 40 °C (D 445) | 46 mm²/s |
| Viscosity index (D 2270) | 110 |
| Pour point (D 97) | -36 °C |
| Density at 15 °C (D 1298) | 0.87 kg/dm³ |
| Total acid number (D 974) | < 0.2 mg KOH/g |
| Foam stability (D 892) | < 10/0 ml |
Download both data sheets from the Rovex compressor oils page.
Rovex Rotojet M 68
An ISO VG 68 grade for compressors whose manufacturer specifies a higher-viscosity oil. Ask us for its data sheet.
Rovex Rotojet Z 68
A fluid for the gearboxes and bearings of oil-free screw compressors, equivalent to Atlas Copco Roto-Z. Ask us for its data sheet.
Which grade should I use?
Always follow the oil grade and change interval in your compressor's manual. Flowva Air engineers can confirm the right grade for your machine and supply genuine oil together with the oil filter and separator.
