A variable speed drive (VSD) compressor adjusts its motor speed to the air your plant uses at every moment, instead of running loaded/unloaded at full speed. In plants with changing demand this cuts compressor electricity significantly - often the largest single saving in a factory's utility bill.

Is a variable speed compressor worth the higher price?
If your air demand varies by more than about 20-30% during the day, the energy saving usually pays back the price difference within a few years. Our energy calculator estimates the kWh saved per year for your plant.
Can I add a VSD compressor to my existing compressors?
Yes. A common setup keeps existing fixed speed compressors for base load and adds one VSD compressor to follow the changing demand, controlled by a central sequencer.
